Anganwadi Worker's Tragic Death Sparks Probe in Shahjahanpur

An investigation is underway following the death of anganwadi worker Preeti Shankhwar in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly due to work-related stress. The inquiry was ordered by City Magistrate Pravendra Kumar after a video was shared on social media by the deceased's daughter, accusing officials of harassment.

Preeti Shankhwar, 42, was involved in Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duties and reportedly succumbed to stress while being transported to Lucknow for medical attention. Her daughter claims her mother was overwhelmed by work demands and criticized for her efforts, resulting in severe stress and illness.

City officials, including District Programme Officer Arvind Rastogi, have denied the allegations, asserting that work pressure had decreased and financial dues were cleared. The investigation continues to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
