The family of seafarer Dixit Solanki, who was killed last month in a suspected attack on a merchant vessel near Oman, has turned to the Bombay High Court for help. They seek the return of his remains.
Filed by Solanki's father, Amratlal, and sister, Mitali, the petition calls on the Union government to expedite the repatriation process due to a lack of clear communication from authorities. The case is set to be heard on April 6, led by Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar.
Solanki, age 25, died when an explosive drone boat targeted the oil tanker MT MKD Vyom amid the West Asian conflict. The family's plea also demands the sharing of all investigation and forensic records, asserting the right to dignity extends after death, thus obligating authorities to ensure timely repatriation. Extensive efforts have reportedly been ignored by the vessel's managing company, adding to their plea's urgency.
