Indian Seafarers Safe Amid West Asia Tensions: Government Assures Stability
The Shipping Ministry confirms the safety of Indian seafarers in West Asia amidst ongoing regional tensions, with no incidents reported involving Indian vessels. Government efforts focus on maintaining maritime operations, passenger repatriation, and ensuring flight connectivity as part of a coordinated response to the developing security situation.

In the face of escalating tensions in West Asia, the Indian government has reassured the safety of its seafarers operating in the region. The Shipping Ministry stated that no incidents have been reported involving Indian-flagged vessels in the last 48 hours, indicating a stable situation for maritime operations.
During a joint inter-ministerial briefing, Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, announced that 18 Indian vessels with approximately 485 crew members are under constant surveillance in the Persian Gulf. More than 964 seafarers have already been safely repatriated as part of ongoing government efforts, with Indian ports continuing normal operations without congestion.
As the region grapples with developments, Aseem R Mahajan of the Ministry of External Affairs reported improved conditions for air travel, with around 90 flights scheduled from the UAE to India in a single day to facilitate passenger movement. The Central Government is actively working to secure energy supplies, ensure smooth maritime activities, and support Indian nationals during the crisis.
