Corruption Scandal: Mid-Day Meal Scheme Under Scrutiny in UP Madrassas

An investigation has been ordered to address allegations of corruption and irregularities in the Mid-Day Meal scheme across madrassas receiving grants from the Uttar Pradesh government. The directive from Monika Rani, Director of the Uttar Pradesh Mid-Day Meal Authority, calls for a thorough inquiry into the reports of misconduct.
The allegations, brought to light by Talha Ansari of the UP All India Pasmanda Manch, highlight concerns regarding the quality of meals provided under the scheme. There are charges of financial discrepancies involving Rs 8 crore in three madrassas in Balrampur. Danish Azad Ansari, Minister for Minority Welfare, confirmed these complaints, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards for student meals.
Further inspections have been mandated across all 558 state-aided madrassas to ensure the integrity of the Mid-Day Meal program. Reports will be reviewed, and strict actions are promised against any malpractice, aligning with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision for equitable treatment and quality education for all children.
