Agriculture Ministry Ensures Kharif Season Stability Amid West Asia Tensions

The Agriculture Ministry has confidently assured that the nation's agricultural sector and its farmers will remain unaffected by the ongoing West Asia Conflict, citing ample seed and fertilizer stocks for the upcoming Kharif season. Currently, the seed availability exceeds requirements, standing at a surplus of 19.29 lakh quintals compared to the 166.46 lakh quintals needed.

During a press briefing, Additional Secretary of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Maninder Kaur Dwivedi detailed the Ministry's readiness. 'Following a comprehensive review amid international tensions, we've ensured all necessary inputs for the Kharif season,' she stated. Major crop seeds, including Paddy, Soybean, and Maize, are reportedly in surplus, aided by state coordination.

Dwivedi addressed the earlier LPG shortage for drying hybrid maize seeds, affirming that this has been resolved through collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum. Additionally, Rabi crop seed supply is stable, with 46% of fertilizer requirements in place as opening stock. She emphasized a robust position in terms of pesticides, urging states to adopt sustainable methods while prices of key crops remain stable despite geopolitical pressures.
