India Assures Ample Seed and Fertiliser Supply for Upcoming Kharif Season

The Centre has announced that there is an adequate supply of seeds and agro-chemicals for the upcoming Kharif season, reassuring farmers of sufficient resources to meet their needs. This was confirmed by Maninder Kaur Dwivedi, Additional Secretary in the Agriculture Ministry, during an inter-ministerial briefing.

Dwivedi detailed that the availability of seeds for major crops like paddy, soyabean, groundnut, and maize is well above the estimated requirement, ensuring no shortages in supply. Despite the ongoing West Asia crisis impacting the supply of gas and oil, the agricultural sector remains unaffected with sufficient stocks in place.

In efforts to curtail hoarding and non-agricultural diversion of fertilisers, the Agriculture Ministry, alongside state authorities, has been vigilant. Prices remain stable, and the authorities are committed to maintaining accessibility and preventing malpractices in the distribution of essential agro-products.
