In a significant operation, police have successfully rescued 13 camels from the brink of illegal slaughter after intercepting a truck transporting the animals from Rajasthan to Hisar, officials reported Thursday.
Acting on an anonymous tip, law enforcement officers halted the vehicle, although the driver made a desperate attempt to evade capture by speeding away and reportedly trying to run over officers. Despite this, the police managed to overpower and arrest the three men inside the truck.
The accused, identified as Rahul (32), Rohit (26), and Salman (22), are residents of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Charged with animal cruelty, they now face judicial proceedings after being presented in court. The camels were found tightly packed inside the truck, raising severe animal welfare concerns.
