In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) intensified its investigation into the alleged coal scam in West Bengal by raiding political consultancy firm I-PAC's executives. The ED conducted searches on Thursday targeting former AAP communication in-charge Vijay Nair, I-PAC co-founder Rishi Raj Singh, and other individuals.
The raids were carried out across multiple locations including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The Trinamool Congress (TMC) claims these actions are politically motivated, labeling them as attempts by the BJP to derail election campaigns in West Bengal.
As the state gears up for assembly elections, the ED's activities are sparking controversies. Meanwhile, I-PAC and its executives have sought legal recourse, challenging ED's summons and claiming the actions are affecting their election work amid allegations linking them to a hawala network stemming from coal pilferage.
