In a crucial diplomatic announcement on Thursday, Pakistan revealed its readiness to host and facilitate significant negotiations between the United States and Iran. This initiative aims to establish a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi emphasized Islamabad's honor and commitment to fostering peace talks two days after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted such willingness amid reports of Pakistan's clandestine peacemaking efforts, alongside Egypt and Turkiye. Andrabi detailed a China-Pakistan five-point peace proposal emerging from Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar's Beijing visit, receiving widespread acceptance.
The quadrilateral consultations, involving foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt, have enhanced Pakistan's regional cooperation, while both Iran and the US showed confidence in Islamabad's capacity to mediate. Despite hurdles in the negotiation process, Pakistan remains steadfast, guided by UN Charter principles, in its pursuit of de-escalating West Asian hostilities.
