Over 1,150 Indian nationals have evacuated Iran via land routes through Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported on Wednesday. This exodus follows a month-long conflict in West Asia, with evacuations aided by the Indian embassy in Tehran.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that 977 individuals crossed into Armenia, and 194 into Azerbaijan, facilitating their travel back to India. The conflict, involving strikes by Israel and the US, began on February 28, leaving approximately 9,000 Indians, including many students, in Iran.
In the UAE, three Indians were injured in attacks this week, with eight fatalities reported so far. India is intensifying diplomatic efforts to safeguard the 10 million Indian nationals residing in the region, amid increasing violence.
