UAE Delegation Enhances UN Ties Ahead of 2026 Crime Congress

Abu Dhabi [UAE], April 1 (ANI/WAM): A high-level UAE delegation met with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Abu Dhabi to enhance collaborative efforts in combating financial crimes and terrorism financing. This meeting signifies a strategic move to align regional initiatives with global standards.
Hamid Saif Al Zaabi, Secretary-General and Vice Chairman of the UAE's committee, spearheaded the discussions with Dr. Hatem Aly, UNODC's Regional Representative for GCC countries. They deliberated on the upcoming 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice slated for September 2026, focusing on agenda topics and partnership opportunities.
The visit reinforced the UAE's commitment to leading the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) under its current chairmanship. Both parties lauded the cooperation level and expressed their dedication to bolstering regional and international crime prevention measures.
