Senior Supreme Court advocate and former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader H S Phoolka has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a move that is being regarded as strengthening the party's efforts to defeat the AAP government in Punjab during the upcoming Assembly elections.
Phoolka, who is celebrated for his relentless pursuit of justice for the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, joined the BJP in a ceremony attended by prominent figures such as Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh. Phoolka's addition is seen as a significant enhancement to the BJP's agenda of justice and accountability.
Addressing a gathering, Phoolka criticized his previous association with AAP as a mistake and accused the Congress of orchestrating the 1984 violence against Sikhs. He expressed dedication to overcoming the challenges facing Punjab, including corruption, drugs, and agrarian crises, asserting that only the BJP can address these issues effectively.
