A 59-year-old individual impersonating a parrot astrologer has been apprehended for allegedly swindling an Income Tax department official by offering career-enhancing rituals, officials reported on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Shekar, managed to extract gold and silver items amounting to Rs 20.60 lakh under the guise of promising career growth and prosperity.

Authorities disclosed that the victim lodged a complaint after Shekar failed to return the valuables given for rituals. Following his arrest, police successfully retrieved the precious items, which Shekar had sold at a local jewelry shop.
