The European Union should only agree to U.S. tariffs reflecting the 2022 agreement made in Scotland, the head of the EU trade committee stated on Thursday.
Bernd Lange noted that the U.S.'s new Section 301 investigations into trade practices lacked a firm commitment to honor the Turnberry Deal established at Donald Trump's golf course.
"We will watch where these investigations lead, but any significant departure from the Turnberry Deal is unacceptable," Lange expressed on social media platform X. The European Parliament is still contemplating whether to vote on the agreement.
