Two devastating avalanches in the French Alps resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left four others injured, according to local authorities and French media reports on Tuesday.
A significant avalanche, approximately 300 meters wide, disrupted a road and footpath in Valloire, southeast France, around midday, stated the Savoie prefecture.
Rescue efforts spanned over four hours, employing mountain police, firefighters, dog units, and army specialists, but were eventually paused due to an increased avalanche threat, with two seriously injured victims evacuated by helicopter. Meanwhile, BFMTV reported two skier fatalities in an off-piste incident in La Grave amid ongoing weather alerts.
