Union Minister for Law and Justice, Arjun Meghwal, declared on Tuesday that the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is imminent, aligning with the statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha.
Addressing media at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre, Meghwal said the matter, while sensitive, is undergoing due process and a decision is forthcoming. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah responded, expressing hope for a swift resolution.
The revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, which resulted in Jammu and Kashmir's reclassification as a Union territory, has been a contentious issue, with promises of eventual statehood restoration.
