A devastating bomb blast near a police station in northwest Pakistan on Monday resulted in the tragic loss of two lives, including a child, and left sixteen others injured. The explosive was planted in a parked auto rickshaw outside the Merian Police Station in Bannu district, local police reported. The injured have been rushed to Bannu District Headquarters Hospital.
In another tragic incident, a child was killed and eight others were injured when an unexploded mortar shell detonated inside a home in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The children had discovered the shell in nearby fields and brought it home, resulting in the fatal explosion while they were playing. Anas, one of the children, died instantly in the Mamond tehsil of Bajaur district.
Security concerns heightened further when militants attacked the Police Station Umaray late Sunday night with heavy weaponry, causing the death of Additional Station House Officer Umaray Gul Mehsud. In response, security forces have reinforced the area and initiated a comprehensive search operation following these attacks.
