Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to embark on a two-day visit to Assam starting February 20. During the visit, he will launch the second phase of the Vibrant Villages Programme in Silchar, situated in the Barak valley's Cachar district, besides participating in a CRPF parade.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Shah's itinerary includes an arms display and presentations on CRPF operations in regions such as Chhattisgarh and Kashmir. Shah's visit also aims to inspire NCC cadets to join CRPF, a move bolstered by plans to establish a new recruitment center in Dhemaji district.
Shah's visit underscores its significance with assembly elections around the corner, as he previously rolled out several projects and addressed two public meetings during his last visit on January 30.
