Electoral Vigilance: Rs 31 Lakh Seized in Latehar as Polls Loom

In an assertive action to uphold electoral integrity ahead of impending civic elections, the Latehar district administration's Static Surveillance Team (SST) intercepted a car during a routine vehicle check, unearthing Rs 31 lakh in cash.
The operation, conducted as part of enforcing the model code of conduct, took place in the Nagar panchayat area, where officers halted a car arriving from Ranchi. Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav confirmed that the passengers have been detained for questioning as authorities pursue the source and intended use of the substantial cash.
An extensive investigation is underway, with police promising to disclose comprehensive details post-investigation. The state-wide urban civic polls are scheduled for February 23, with results to be declared on February 27.
