The Election Commission (EC) of India is set to convene a landmark national conference for state election commissioners on February 24 in New Delhi. This marks the first such gathering in over 25 years, as announced on Wednesday.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, will lead the conference, which will see participation from State Election Commissioners from across states and Union Territories. The gathering aims to enhance coordination between the EC and state bodies regarding electoral procedures.
Key topics will include electoral laws, voter eligibility, and technological advancements, such as the new ECINET platform and the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The Commission's objective is to strengthen the synergy between national and state commissions, sharing insights from its extensive election management experience.
