Balochistan's Security Struggle: Navigating Geography and Insurgency

Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif addressed the National Assembly on Monday, drawing attention to the pressing security concerns in Balochistan. The province's expansive geography necessitates significant troop presence to tackle the surge in militant activity.

Asif criticized the collaboration between criminal organizations and militants, asserting that groups like the Baloch Liberation Army disguise illegal activities as freedom movements. He accused India of backing insurgents through proxies and noted Afghanistan's role in supporting these elements.

Refuting claims of deprivation, Asif highlighted developmental strides in Balochistan, such as the presence of multiple airports. He dismissed the narrative of 'missing persons,' linking it to terrorists and criminals, and questioned the funding sources for their sophisticated weaponry.
