West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has employed an unconventional protest against the controversial revision of electoral rolls by writing 26 poems. Titled 'SIR: 26 in 26', the collection, unveiled at the Kolkata Book Fair, features evocative titles such as 'Panic', 'Doom', and 'Democracy'.

In the book's introduction, Banerjee dedicates her work to those who have suffered due to this political strife, claiming that fear is being systematically spread across Bengal. Her poem 'Doom', for instance, questions prolonged silence amidst chaos, while 'Morgue' criticizes the erosion of democratic values due to oppressive forces.

The TMC founder, during an interaction with journalists, revealed her ability to write the compilation swiftly. With an extensive portfolio of 163 books, Banerjee financially relies on her creative works, foregoing any government remuneration. An accomplished author, painter, and lyricist, she is celebrated for her wide array of artistic achievements.
