Kerala Excise Minister M B Rajesh has alleged that the Congress party's silence on the Sabarimala gold loss issue hints at deeper political connections. The main accused, Unnikrishnan Potty, a businessman from Bengaluru, has ties to the temple dating back to 2004 when K C Venugopal was the Devaswom Minister.
Rajesh suggested that Potty's association with the Congress might be the reason behind their muted response, highlighted by Potty's alleged meeting with Sonia Gandhi. This, he implies, keeps Congress from criticizing Potty's involvement or singing the parody song 'pottiye kettiye' within their ranks.
Potty remains in judicial custody, with 11 others arrested, including prominent Travancore Devaswom Board figures. The case revolves around the loss of gold from key temple idols and structures, raising questions about political influences on legal and religious matters.
