IOS SAGAR, spearheaded by the Indian Navy, aims to bolster maritime ties within the Indian Ocean Region, advocating for security, growth, and partnership across the expanse. Next year’s engagement will span March to May, with an increased focus on the Southeast Asia region, Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti mentioned.

Reflecting on the holistic approach, Vice Admiral Sobti emphasized that maritime security must be a collective effort, involving multiple nations. The initiative foresees a single ship, crewed by participants from various nationalities, conducting surveillance exercises. This year's mission included a month-long patrol across Dar-es-Salaam, Nacala, Port Louis, and Port Victoria.

Launched from the strategic Karwar naval base, IOS SAGAR reiterates India's vision of becoming a 'preferred security partner' and 'first responder' in the region. It highlights the Indian Navy's role in fostering a secure maritime environment and strengthening ties with neighboring naval forces.
