A significant fire broke out at a government ration shop located in the Galta Gate area on Wednesday evening, as confirmed by local police authorities. Fortunately, the incident resulted in no reported casualties.
The shop, situated on the ground floor of a three-storey residential structure, was engulfed in flames that rapidly intensified due to the ignition of kerosene drums stored within the premises. The situation prompted immediate action from the shop owner, who initially attempted to extinguish the fire but was forced to flee due to its increasing severity.
In response to the blaze, police executed emergency evacuations for residents of approximately eight neighboring houses as a precaution. The intensity of the fire caused the shop's roof to collapse and allowed the flames to extend to the upper floors. Upon extinguishing the fire, authorities discovered seven LPG cylinders among the debris of four rooms on the higher levels.
