In a significant move to overhaul electoral rolls, Tamil Nadu's Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik convened an all-party meeting. This gathering focused on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) aimed at cleaning up the electoral database by engaging political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLA).
Addressing representatives from major political entities including the Aam Admi Party, BJP, and Congress, Patnaik emphasized the urgent need for accuracy in voter lists, as the Election Commission rolls out the SIR initiative in Tamil Nadu and 11 other states for the first time in over 20 years.
Set to run from November 4 to December 4, this process will involve extensive house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers to update and refine the polls. Amidst differing political opinions, the plan is to ensure a more efficient voting system as the state gears up for upcoming elections.
