The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has raised serious concerns over the integrity of the electoral process, accusing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls of undermining democracy. The party alleges that the SIR facilitates the inclusion of fake voters while removing legitimate ones.
According to K G Arunraj, propaganda secretary of the Vijay-led TVK, the conduct of free and fair elections is a fundamental pillar of democracy. However, the Election Commission has yet to respond to accusations of 'vote theft' in Bihar, where the SIR was initiated.
The ruling DMK and allies have also criticized the SIR. The government has called for an all-party meeting to address these issues as the Election Commission plans to expand the SIR in Tamil Nadu and other upcoming poll-bound states.
