Sushma Andhare, a Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, has urged the Bombay High Court to transfer the investigation of a 28-year-old female doctor's alleged suicide to a high-level committee. The court demand follows her claims of discrepancies in the woman's reported handwriting on a suicide note.
The doctor, found dead in a Phaltan hotel, accused police sub-inspector Gopal Badane and software engineer Prashant Bankar of rape and harassment. Both men have been arrested following the accusations. Andhare points to differences between the alleged suicide note and prior complaint applications as potential evidence of murder.
Andhare criticized Rupali Chakankar, chairperson of Maharashtra Women's Commission, for releasing information from the Call Detail Records during a press conference. She questioned the authority of the commission and whether the National Commission for Women will address Chakankar's actions. The issue also implicates Sunil Tatkare, state chief of the NCP, due to Chakankar's party affiliation.
