A court in Maharashtra's Palghar district has acquitted two men in a dacoity case, resolving charges filed over 25 years ago due to a lack of evidence.
Judge H A S Mulla's verdict, issued on October 15, was made public recently. The case dates back to April 2000 when Manikpur police station officers intercepted a tempo in the Vasai area, suspecting an impending dacoity by five to six individuals. Among those apprehended was Sunil alias Kanhyaa Sakharam Agrawal, while others managed to evade capture.
Despite finding tools possibly linked to a robbery, the court ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the accused's intent. This verdict now closes a long-standing case, with co-defendants either deceased or untraceable.
