In Maharashtra's Beed district, the residents of Wadwani observed a bandh on Tuesday, advocating for a special investigation team (SIT) probe into the alleged suicide of a young woman doctor from the region, according to police reports.
The 28-year-old was discovered dead in a hotel in Satara district, leaving a suicide note on her palm. She accused Police Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane of multiple rapes and software engineer Prashant Bankar of mental harassment. Following these accusations, both individuals have been taken into custody.
Community members marched from Shivaji Maharaj Chowk to the tehsil office, presenting demands, including the SIT probe and a fast-track trial. An activist highlighted potential involvement of other officials, calling for suspensions and punishments. The doctor's family insists on a government-led investigation and trial in Beed.
