Interstate Sandalwood Smuggling Ring Uncovered in Major Bust
Four inter-state gang members were arrested for allegedly smuggling sandalwood logs worth Rs 1.12 crore in an operation by police. The gang, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, had concealed the logs in sacks under decayed onions. Investigations are ongoing under the Forest Act at Siddapur police station.

Police in Siddapur have cracked down on an inter-state smuggling ring, arresting four individuals allegedly involved in transporting sandalwood logs worth Rs 1.12 crore. The operation also led to the recovery of 750 kg of sandalwood.
The accused, identified as Abdul Kalam, Rama Bhopal, Sheikh Sharukh, and Paramesh, reside in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. They were apprehended when officers, following a tip-off, found two suspicious vehicles parked near a local hotel.
Concealed within sacks of decayed onions, the precious logs were uncovered during inspection. Officials have lodged a case under the Forest Act, and investigations are in progress.
