A major crackdown on cryptocurrency fraud led to the arrest of 32 individuals in Cuttack, Odisha, most of whom hailed from West Bengal. The local police conducted a raid in the Sikharpur area after receiving a tip-off regarding the illicit activities.
The investigation revealed that four individuals, including a resident from Bhubaneswar, deceived investors by promising substantial returns through cryptocurrency trading platforms. After misappropriating the funds, the alleged fraudsters took refuge in an area near Puri.
The disgruntled investors, primarily from West Bengal, abducted the suspects and forcefully detained them at a Cuttack hotel. "We will examine the case from both the angles of cryptocurrency fraud and kidnapping," stated Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo. Four luxury vehicles were confiscated during the police operation, and further inquiries are ongoing.
