A principal suspect in a massive Rs 252-crore mephedrone drug bust has been deported from Dubai and taken into custody by Mumbai police, confirmed authorities on Thursday.
Dubbed 'Lavish' for his extravagant lifestyle, Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh was part of an international drug syndicate. His arrest follows a Red Corner Notice executed by sister agencies in Dubai, leading to his extradition to India.
Shaikh masterminded the operations of mephedrone manufacturing across multiple Indian states for a syndicate led by Salim Dola. Brought before a court, Shaikh is held in police custody as the investigation by Mumbai’s crime branch, aiming to expose his elaborate drug network, intensifies.
