Iran Refutes Trump's Claims of Ceasefire Request Amid Tensions

The Iranian government has disputed US President Donald Trump's claims that Tehran sought a ceasefire. Trump suggested negotiations would occur once the Strait of Hormuz is open. Iran's Foreign Ministry labeled his statement as baseless, while ruling out any immediate diplomatic breakthrough due to a lack of trust in US intentions.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry swiftly countered assertions made by US President Donald Trump, who alleged that Tehran approached Washington with a ceasefire proposal. Press TV reported that Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman dismissed Trump's remarks as false and without foundation.

On Wednesday, Trump claimed that Iran implored the US for a ceasefire, contingent upon the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. The President shared these remarks on Truth Social, emphasizing that US military action would persist unless the strategic waterway was cleared.

In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated the improbability of diplomatic advancement, citing a deep-seated mistrust between Tehran and Washington. Meanwhile, Trump's upcoming address on US-Iran relations is anticipated to further clarify the administration's stance.
