The son of Iran's President has confirmed that Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is unharmed, following reports suggesting he was injured amid ongoing US and Israeli strikes. This clarification came through Yousef Pezeshkian, who posted on Telegram that Khamenei was 'safe and sound', refuting earlier allegations.
The New York Times had suggested in its reports that Khamenei was hurt and had withdrawn from the public eye due to security issues, with Iranian sources indicating an injury on the first day of the Israeli operation, February 28. Meanwhile, amid the intensifying West Asia conflict, a cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz was hit by an unidentified projectile, sparking a fire and necessitating emergency evacuations.
In response, US President Donald Trump issued a warning against Iran, demanding any alleged mines in the Strait be removed, cautioning of severe military repercussions otherwise. Concurrently, Iran's Ambassador to the UN accused the US and Israel of targeting civilians and infrastructure, imploring the UN to act to prevent further assaults.
