Odisha's Bold Healthcare Expansion: 4 New Medical Colleges Proposed
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced plans to build four new medical colleges to address the state's doctor shortage. He also emphasized development in Ayurveda and related sectors. Additionally, significant funds are allocated for Mayurbhanj district's growth, including biodiversity protection and cultural site enhancements.

In a significant move to address the critical shortage of healthcare professionals, Odisha is gearing up to open four more medical colleges. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled this proposal during a public gathering in Mayurbhanj district, coinciding with President Droupadi Murmu's visit to lay the foundation for an AYUSH Hospital-cum-Ayurvedic College.
Majhi outlined plans to not only expand the conventional medical education field but also to promote Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and related sectors. The initiative promises 24-hour healthcare services through strengthened Arogya Mandirs and aims to bolster human resource development.
Beyond healthcare, the state government pledges substantial financial support for Mayurbhanj, with Rs 50 crore for Similipal biodiversity conservation and Rs 100 crore for the enhancement of Maa Kichakeswari Temple, to ensure holistic socio-economic development.
