Diwali Dangers: Surge in Burn Cases Across Delhi Hospitals

In the wake of Diwali festivities, Delhi hospitals have reported an alarming surge in burn injuries, with more than 250 cases observed city-wide. The majority of these incidents were attributed to firecrackers, underscoring the perennial risks posed during the celebrations.
Among the medical facilities, Safdarjung Hospital, home to India's largest burn unit, noted the highest influx with 129 cases, followed by AIIMS, which admitted 55 patients. Many of these victims suffered serious injuries necessitating prompt medical intervention.
Health professionals, like Dr. Sujata Sarabhai from Safdarjung Hospital, emphasize the critical nature of some cases, especially as they include life-threatening injuries. The festive season's cheer has been marred for many by these preventable accidents, presenting a stark reminder of the safety precautions needed during such times.
