Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, announced a scheme aimed at increasing coal offtake and reducing costs for power consumers during the current April-June quarter. This initiative is designed to encourage more coal purchases, expedite transportation, and lower overall costs for electricity production.
The scheme targets power companies under the fuel supply agreement, including those with flexi-linkage schemes. Incentives will depend on the volume of coal transported by rail, road, or a combination of both, in line with their quarterly goals. Consumers can gain cash discounts and performance incentives based on their offtake levels.
BCCL's new scheme reflects wider efforts to ensure consistent coal supply, support stable electricity generation, and boost India's energy independence amid global energy uncertainties. Despite reporting a significant profit decline, BCCL remains committed to enhancing coal availability and operational efficiency.
