The French government has announced plans to fully offset the economic fallout from the ongoing Iran crisis by freezing some spending. New support measures have been introduced, with Finance Minister Roland Lescure stating that the surge in energy prices and higher bond yields are projected to cost between 4 billion euros and 6 billion euros, with increased borrowing costs accounting for 3.6 billion euros.

Budget Minister David Amiel confirmed that in response to the anticipated 6 billion euros in costs due to the crisis, the government plans to suspend 6 billion euros in spending. Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu's government aims to neutralize the budgetary impact of these measures, which focus on assisting households in coping with the shock of rising energy prices. He noted that subsidies for the fishing and farming sectors will increase, and assistance will extend to small construction firms and possibly taxi drivers.

Plans are also underway to support an additional 3 million low-income individuals who use their vehicles for work. Lecornu emphasized the importance of maintaining economic growth by ensuring that sectors heavily reliant on hydrocarbons remain unaffected. With France already facing one of the largest budget deficits in the euro zone, the government can only afford precisely targeted support measures for those most in need.
