In a determined effort to support rural livelihoods, the Ministry of Rural Development has announced significant budget enhancements, including a 21% increase in allocation. Addressing a press conference, Joint Secretary Amit Shukla highlighted the release of ₹17,744 crore via Direct Benefit Transfer for April wages under MGNREGA, underscoring the commitment to seamless operations.

The government is prioritizing smooth implementation and timely payments for MGNREGA and VBSY, as full provisions meet all demands. Senior officials emphasize protecting statutory entitlements and ensuring all workers are paid promptly. Recent meetings with state ministers indicate no disruption in job creation efforts, reflecting enhanced focus on rural development.

Progress in other rural schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin aims to construct 4.59 crore houses by 2029, bolstered by systematic real-time monitoring. The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana sees expanded funding, with ₹83,000 crore sanctioned for Phase III and new road projects underway. Collaboration with the Agriculture Ministry also propels the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, supporting agricultural intensification over 50 lakh hectares.
