The Maharashtra government has taken decisive action by suspending the licences of 16 agricultural service centres throughout Nanded district. This measure comes in response to alleged violations of regulatory norms, according to officials.
The agriculture department initiated this crackdown as part of a larger effort to maintain a smooth supply of quality seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides to farmers for the approaching Kharif season. During a rigorous inspection process, significant irregularities were discovered, including e-POS system discrepancies and mismatched stock records among wholesale and retail fertilizer dealers.
As a result of these findings and following hearings conducted on Friday, licences were suspended. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of purchasing agricultural supplies from authorized centres to support farmers effectively.
