The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast warning of thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall across Maharashtra from April 20 to April 22. This development has prompted state authorities to alert farmers about safeguarding their crops from potential adverse weather conditions.

Regions such as Western Maharashtra, notably the ghat areas, along with Khandesh, Marathwada, and parts of the Vidarbha region, are expected to experience cloudy conditions and thunderstorms, primarily in the afternoon. The IMD release issued on Saturday mentioned the possibility of lightning, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorms.

The weather conditions are anticipated to intensify on April 20 and 21, affecting parts of the Pune division, southern Marathwada, including the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division, and Vidarbha's Amravati division. However, the intensity and coverage of the thunderstorm activity are expected to diminish by April 22. In response to these forecasts, the state agriculture department has issued precautionary guidelines for farmers to minimize potential crop damage.
