The nation currently operates 60 commercial nuclear reactors, with 36 under construction and 16 awaiting commencement. The strategic initiative is expected to drive a considerable boost in the nuclear sector, according to the China Nuclear Energy Association's latest annual report.
In alignment with its ambitious five-year plan, Beijing recently declared its aim to achieve an operating capacity of 110 gigawatts by 2030—a remarkable 75.9% increase from 2025 figures, underscoring the country's resolve in advancing its energy agenda.
