Telangana Pushes for Robust Rice Procurement Plan for 2025-26

In a strategic meeting in the nation's capital, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and State Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy advocated for a robust procurement strategy as they met with Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Prahlad Joshi.
At the heart of the discussions was Telangana's formal request for the central government to secure 30 lakh metric tonnes of parboiled rice for the agricultural season of 2025-26, which encompasses both Kharif and Rabi crops. This request is crucial to maintain an uninterrupted support system for the state's farmers amid projected high crop yields.
Highlighting a significant estimated Rabi yield of 90 lakh metric tonnes, the Telangana leaders stressed the importance of early coordination with the central government. The move seeks to ensure procurement processes are aligned with anticipated production levels, which is foreseen to ensure market stabilization.
