In a dramatic turn of events on Friday night, police in Dehradun engaged in an encounter with suspects allegedly connected to the recent murder of retired Brigadier Mukesh Kumar Joshi. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal, the police acted on intelligence during a checkpoint in Johri village, Rajpur police jurisdiction, leading them to the suspects.

Pursuing the suspects to Guniyal village's forested area, the exchange quickly escalated when one suspect fired upon the officers, prompting police retaliation. The suspect was injured and subsequently transported to a hospital. Authorities recovered a pistol at the scene, with senior officials arriving later for a thorough field inspection.

Identified as Mohammad Kavish Hussain Tyagi from Muzaffarnagar, who suffered a leg injury, and Shantanu Tyagi from Saharanpur, the suspects are believed to be linked to Brigadier Joshi's death. He was tragically caught in the crossfire during a road rage incident. The police have arrested four individuals, while three others remain at large. It was revealed that a dispute at the 'Gen Z' Club preceded the fatal altercation.
