Uttarakhand's 2027 Kumbh Mela: Infrastructure Overhaul and Modernization Underway

Uttarakhand's Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan conducted an on-site visit to Haridwar on Thursday to evaluate the progress of crucial infrastructure projects for the Kumbh Mela-2027. Bardhan directed officials to adhere strictly to timelines while maintaining high standards, stressing the importance of inter-departmental collaboration to expedite the work, according to a government release.
During his inspection, Bardhan evaluated the construction work at various ghats, including the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ghat and the Bairagi Camp Ghat. He highlighted the necessity of elevated safety and convenience measures for devotees, stressing modern standards in development. The Chief Secretary also called for 'Green Ghats' with green belts and planting, urging inclusion of accessibility features and efficient sanitation.
Bardhan's tour included reviewing infrastructure projects like a pre-stressed RCC bridge over Pathri Rao and the Bahadrabad-SIDCUL road expansion, underscoring their priority in easing traffic during the event. He also examined the Haridwar bypass ring road project, setting weekly targets to ensure timely completion. Equal emphasis was laid on security, traffic management, and essential service efficiency.
