Bribery Crackdown: Deputy Education Officer Arrested in Uttarakhand
A Deputy Education Officer in Uttarakhand, along with a female colleague, was arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for processing payment of bills. The vigilance department acted on a complaint from the Ganga Valley Junior High School under the Right to Education Act.

In a decisive action against corruption, the Uttarakhand Vigilance Department on Wednesday apprehended a deputy education officer and his colleague in Doiwala, Dehradun, for allegedly taking a bribe.
The deputy education officer, Dhanveer Singh Bisht, was caught alongside his colleague, Pushpanjali, after a diligent investigation into allegations of bribery at a local educational institution, Ganga Valley Junior High School in Rishikesh.
The duo faces charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act for reportedly demanding Rs 1 lakh to facilitate the processing of fee reimbursement bills for students under the Right to Education Act.
