In a dramatic start to the IPL season, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs led Delhi Capitals (DC) to a six-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ekana Cricket Stadium. Rizvi's unbeaten 70 and Stubbs' 39 propelled DC to chase down the target of 142 comfortably.

The match initially appeared to lean towards a potential low-scoring thriller, as LSG set only 141 runs on the board. DC, however, showcased middle-order prowess with Rizvi and Stubbs orchestrating a match-winning partnership, turning the tides after a precarious start at 30/4.

Mohammed Shami's impactful debut for LSG saw him dismiss KL Rahul on the first ball, while Mohsin Khan and Prince Yadav dealt further setbacks to DC's lineup. Yet, Rizvi and Stubbs remained resilient, grinding through early challenges and capitalizing on opportunities as they progressively dismantled LSG's bowling attack.

Rizvi's strategical batting earned him the Player of the Match accolade. Post-match, he credited consistent support from coaches and familiarity with home conditions for his success, emphasizing a positive mindset and strategic aggression in the middle stages of the game.

Earlier, LSG struggled against DC's bowling, despite a promising start by Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh. Pant's unlucky dismissal triggered a collapse, with Aiden Markram, Ayush Badoni, and others quickly returning to the pavilion. Abdul Samad's 36 brought some resilience, yet LSG's efforts culminated in just 141 runs, with DC bowlers Lungi Ngidi, T Natarajan, and Kuldeep Yadav taking critical wickets.
