The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced a setback in their opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, collapsing to 141 runs against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday. The match took place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, where LSG captain Rishabh Pant opened the innings with Mitch Marsh.

Despite a promising beginning, LSG's innings unraveled following Pant's unfortunate dismissal. Marsh's shot met Mukesh Kumar's hand, ricocheting to hit the stumps at the non-striker's end, catching Pant outside his crease. Following this, Markram's brief surge waned as he fell to Axar Patel. The middle-order wobbled with Natarajan dismissing Badoni cheaply, while Pooran fell short of expectations, hitting his wicket off Ngidi.

Marsh offered resistance with a steady 35 off 28 deliveries before Kuldeep Yadav terminated his innings. Abdul Samad chipped in with 36, forming a partnership with Shahbaz Ahmed, who ended unbeaten. Concluding the innings, Lungi Ngidi and Natarajan wreaked havoc with three wickets each, setting 142 as the target for Delhi Capitals to start their season victoriously.
