Unseasonal Weather Strikes: Farmers' Woes Deepen with Crop Damage

Unseasonal weather patterns have caused significant damage to rabi crops, including wheat, across several states, prompting Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to take decisive action. During a comprehensive review, Chouhan highlighted the impact of rain and hailstorms, which struck when crops were ripe for harvest.
The minister has instructed officials to collaborate with state governments for accurate damage assessment. State Disaster Response Funds are in place, and the Crop Insurance Scheme is set to assist affected farmers by ensuring accurate and scientific damage evaluation for insurance claims.
Chouhan also underscored the importance of staying vigilant as the Indian Meteorological Department issues warnings of further Western Disturbances. Farmers are advised to keep abreast of official advisories for proactive measures.
